The Kindly approach

Clinically informed and existentially grounded.

Existential therapy forms the overarching approach at Kindly Now, and we draw on other evidence-based therapeutic approaches within it. For us, it reaches far beyond abstract questions of meaning and purpose. It is concerned, first and foremost, with how you are actually living in the world, with what you move towards and away from across every dimension of your life, and whether that reflects what you value.

Kindly Now is led by Stephanie personally. When someone’s care calls for additional expertise, she draws on a trusted network of specialists, and decides with the client who to involve and when.

Existential recovery

The recovery of oneself

Recovery, as we understand it, is never about going back to how we were or how life has been. It is about who we become in light of everything that has happened, and it is intentionally cultivated and lived across four dimensions of existence.

    Physical

The body and physical health, our daily rhythms and habits, and the environments we live in, including the natural world.

  • line art of two circles overlapping

    Social

How we relate to others: family, intimacy, belonging and community.

    Personal

Our relationship with ourselves: identity, self-worth, the narratives we construct about our lives, and our hopes, dreams and personal projects.

    Spiritual

Meaning, values and purpose, and what makes a life feel worth living.

Testimonials

What clients say

  • “Recovery is so much more than getting clean. The hardest part was learning how to live in the absence of my old habits. The work I did with Steph over the last year helped me build better habits and a completely different relationship with myself and others. I no longer run from struggle. I’ve learned to move through it, and that has changed everything.”

  • “Steph has been the best therapist for me. She’s very direct, wise and kind, and the work we have done together has been transformative in so many ways.”

  • “I wasn’t sure what to expect, but from the very first session I felt completely at ease. Stephanie is professional, deeply knowledgeable, and genuinely down to earth. She meets you exactly where you are… I came in not knowing how to move forward. I left knowing who I wanted to become and, for the first time, living in a way that made that possible.”
